"I was never right but never wrong, everybody thought I'd finish strong. But I can get there soon if you push me to the moon." -Ingrid Michaelson
Yesterday, we got in contact with one of Shalom's previous owners. This one obviously loved him dearly and was very upset to hear that he'd ended up having to be rescued. We talked for a little while and she immediately said that if we ever had to sell him and we could, she'd love to have him back. (Obviously, that's not an option for us because we're obsessed with him. Haha!)
We did find out that he has a paralyzed flapper. Basically, he has a hard time catching his breathe. The symptoms are quite similar to asthma. He should be 100% fine to be ridden but he can't be worked too hard, just in case. There's also a surgery to fix it but we may not even have to go that route. We're definitely keeping it in mind, though. But it's treatable and it's not a death sentence, so that's much better than a number of things that he could have.
In other news, I'm headed out to ride in a couple hours. Gotta get there early because my saddle is completely covered in disgusting mold. Blech. Going out with the whole group on what could be our last ride at Ivy Hills. Craziness.
