What other activities, hobbies, or sports do you do outside of riding?
First and foremost, I love writing. Writing is my biggest passion, outside of horses. (Of course.) Whether it's blogging, writing my own material or even writing fanfiction (I have no shame. No shame whatsoever of my nerdy'ness.) I just love it. I love writing about people, specifically. Capturing emotions, appearances, hot-topics amongst us and the troubles that a lot of us face..it's a nice sort of therapy for me.
I keep an old spiral notebook with me all the time because I never know when I'll get ideas. I can get inspiration from anything - a homeless person on the street, my horses, even just an average guy walking around the mall. I can always find something to write about in the midst of other people and their lives. I love writing about the underdogs, the bad turned into good. It makes me have hope for our world and when hope is hard to find, I create it.
This is something I really, really enjoy but I need to get more disciplined with it. I end up walking or sprinting more than running, but hey, I'm moving so I suppose it's a good thing no matter what. At first I just started so I could get healthier but then I really started to enjoy the escape it provides. I hate running or walking without music, though. I have to have some kind of noise and my soundtrack always depends on my day.
I probably should've put this above running.
I love taking photos. I'm not huge on taking them of people, though. I love taking photos of animals, nature. My favorite subject is, of course, my horses. I love capturing silent moments out in the pasture, a windblown mane or a fresh blade of grass left on their lip. Just the simple things. I love editing them, making them more crisp or making them mine instead of just like everyone elses photos. I can be creative with them.
I love taking photos of the things that are special to me, even though they may not mean the most to anyone else.
A mane, that I've soaked with tears from time to time.
A horse's back, that's carried me through a lot of bad things.
A pasture full of hay where I've sat and just sat for the sake of peace.
A rescue horse galloping through fields, finally feeling happy again.
A saddle, a bridle, etc.
Simple things are the most over-looked but they are typically the most important. :)
So, what do you do in your free time? Other than, ya know, stuffing our horses with treats.
