Bad news, Hercules & Sweet ponies.

Chip's home fell through, like us, she decided that he was too much for her. They think they found some melanoma cancer on his neck, which is very common for light-colored Appaloosa's. This can only be treated with surgery and etc...we're going to get the vet to check it out in July when she comes out. I'm praying it turns out to be fine and it's not even cancer, but really, his odds are high for cancer. We're going to be purchasing a lot of stuff for Spirit to prevent this cancer so he doesn't end up with it as well.We will find him a good home, it'll take time, even more so now because he possibly has the melanoma on him. Sigh..one thing after another.

On a better note, Hercules was worked for the 3rd time ever and they rode him for the second time, very light work considering he's still young, but he's old and matured enough to be able to safely have someone on his back a little.

This horse has amazed me. I always thought he'd be, not crazy, but very testing and etc when being ridden. He just has a silly personality, he's the halter stealer of the bunch. Just a crazy, weird, silly horse. Very loving when he wants to be. He never put up a fight. Just let Ann do whatever with him. She used a bit, just a soft bit for starting horses, which is the first time he'd ever had anything like that in his mouth, she previously used a halter and reins when she worked him, and he did *amazing* he played with it, but didn't care about it being there. She crinkled water bottles, turned him left from right, had us come up randomly and be loud and he just walked to us like, "Hey guys, how are ya doin'??" He kept trying to bite the stirrup and lick her foot. ;) He's going to be an excellent horse. Plus him and Red have found a kinship and play together all the time.

We have a little girl for the weekend, she is in foster care and we're doing respit, which is where we babysit for a weekend or a couple days to give the foster parents a vacation of sorts, and so far she has adored the horses. We brought her to the barn yesterday after hearing that she liked "horseys" and she loved watching Hurk work. I wanted to go and check Red's tail and say hi so I let her go with me. I went in with Red first because he had acted up on the trail the other day and wanted to make sure he was going to be good, he looked for treats in my left pocket-where I always put them-and wrapped his head around me, whinnied at the other horses and stomped his feet because of the flies, wasn't bad but acted like a very *awake* horse. ;) I let her walk in and his demeanor changed. He was chill. Stopped making noise, stopped stomping, he walked up slowly, where he pretty much trotted to me, let her pet his nose and check out his hooves, mane and forelock, she let him touch his EARS guys. His ears, do y'all know how bad he acts when I try to touch his ears? He shakes his head, stomps his feet. That's his worst habit, he HATES people messing with his fuzzy big ole ears. But he was totally calm for her. Yep, he was definitely a lesson horse. Very proud of Redman today!

Getting those black points on his face now!
