I'll make a dressage pony out of you.

Okay, for the year that I've had Red, I've jokingly said that he acts like an English horse and he looks like he wants to do Dressage! Knowing that I'm going out to ride today at 4, I asked my cousin-who previously owned him-what kind of stuff they did with him when they rode him English. Sure enough, they did dressage! I knew they both did dressage a lot but I didn't know that they used Red, but since they've had him since he was 2 up until I owned him, and he displays a lot of the English and Dressage characteristics, it makes a lot of sense for them to have done it. I was curious because I honestly have no idea what I want to do in the English world. I don't want to just be a Western rider in an English saddle. I have a few people that are gonna help me out a lot, which is awesome because at the moment, I can't afford a trainer but at least I have people that are, no joke, just as good as one. I really wish some of my fellow English bloggers lived here, though. Come to Tennessee, people. We have idiotic horse owners and TWH. (or maybe I'll just come to you)

The plan for today is tack him up, check the saddle fit and everything, take him to the round pen and watch him walk/trot/canter to make sure nothing's off with the saddle and hop on for a couple laps. If everything goes well, I'll head up to the four acre pasture or go on the trails. I think mom is going to head out before me to work Spirit. I'll be alone at the barn today other than A being there to work Lady after she got some new shoes the other day. I've got the girth hooked up to the saddle, my bridle is set up, pad is clean and drying so all should go well. Woot!!

  4. Yah! I'm excited to hear about your ride! It's great that you have friends to help you; good trainers are not always affordable. Like everyone else said, there are probably tons of articles and videos out there on the web.
