Bridlepath.

"And indeed, a horse who bears himself proudly is a thing of such beauty and astonishment that he attracts the eyes of all beholders. No one will tire of looking at him as long as he will display himself in his splendor."

This week, I feel like mom and I have accomplished a lot with our horse's appearances. The other day we decided to grab the clippers and attempt to turn Cowboy into a respectable miniature horse as opposed to a miniature horse version of Tina Turner...which actually looks a *lot* like Cowboy..We decided to just trim up his whiskers, fetlocks and bridepath, plus we thinned his mane a little..Pretty pleased with the outcome.
Before-sorry for the not so great pic, only recent one we had that showed his mane really well

He's gaining weight really well now. We wormed him, put him on weight gain, etc, but he just wouldn't gain..finally he's started to get fatter!! We've been turning him out a lot more and I think the grass has done wonders!! :)

When I went out to ride Red bareback the other day, I noticed that his bridepath was getting *really* long and kind of looked like a mohawk, so I went back to the barn today with the clippers so I could trim him up..Of course he was in the back pasture again so I had to walk back there and get him..thankfully when I called he came, then decided to be a stubborn mule at the gate and refused to move :P finally we went through and he followed..brought him back to the barn, brushed him, curried/massaged him, chased after a wasp with fly spray and a bucket-Red never flinched at this yet spooked at the clippers-and finally got down to business. We started with the bridlepath, he was hesitant at first but then decided the clippers made for a nice sound machine and fell asleep on my shoulder
Had to take a photo of his cuteness.
I am so pleased at his stinking mane right now!! let's do a before and after, shall we?? I love those.
July 2012. He looks pretty good here, love how red his coat is, but his mane and forelock isn't long at all.. :)) Because of florida bugs and his allergies to them, he just couldn't grow one. His previous owners hated it because they tried so hard to make it long. :)) Just took some Tennessee weather!! (Which was my Papaw's moddo for horses, bring em' to TN!!)
Today after his bridlepath trimming!!

I'm a sucker for long manes so I'm pretty stinking excited.

I have more pictures to post but they haven't uploaded on Instagram OR gone to my email for me to edit yet..soo..til then. ;)

PS: Doesn't Red look amazing?? :D

  2. The ponies look so freshly kept!! I hope to keep Wiz more well 'manicured' when he's a stall pony. (a) I'll have more time because I won't be spending 30 minutes chasing him down in his field, (b) hopefully he'll be less dirty. Right now, he's just a wild thing, crazy mane and all. You did a great job though!
