Five minutes of peace & serenity.

Ever have such a busy, hectic, terrible week that you just want to go to bed and wake up in a few months when everything is right again??? I've had that week. We've had to take custody of a young family member-just a baby-due to some things, we're trying to prepare for a trip to Florida-a tiny one, but a trip nonetheless-we've had case workers and etc in our house as we FINALLY, after almost two years-two years in about 17 days-of waiting for my little brother to become OURS by adoption, we've had VBS all week at church, then tonight my father, a drug addict, was in a car accident and has a broken hip, possibly a broken rib and something in his shoulder broken. Why he's alive, I have no clue..he's survived so many car crashes. His legs have been literally crushed, man, I don't know what God's planning because surely He has something in mind for my dad to still be living. Anyways, this evening before VBS we dropped off some money for the farrier in case we couldn't make it tomorrow-but we think we will now-and I finally got some Red time. Ran to his stall in record breakin' time, hugged him and hid from wasps. Man it felt good to be at the barn!! It's been too stinkin' long. I think he had just eaten and was about to take his afternoon nap, but he stayed awake for the first few minutes. I swear, I love him. He put his head on my shoulder, wrapped his neck around me and just sat there like, "Oh hey dude I missed you!!" and all was right in the world for a few short minutes. Sometimes, all it takes is five minutes-I spent longer at the barn but you get the gist-of horse time and your world flips back rightside up.
Ignore the lighting.
After a minute, I ran to the car, grabbed the phone, ran back and snapped a few pictures. Did I mention how much I love him??? He had *perfect* PERFECT perfect perfect perfect manners today. Did I say perfect?? Seriously, he had the best 'tude that he's had in awhile, especially after eating and being eager to leave the stall. I *hate* calling a horse perfect because they aren't. Ever. Even the best horse has a bad quality, but I think being there just made me happy. A calm in the midst of a storm..This horse. This horse is a rock for me, I don't know what I would ever do if I didn't have him as an escape from this insanity that I'm going through or my anxiety or anything to be honest. I owe this horse so much. I've helped him a lot, but not as much as he's helped me, is helping me right now. He means the world to me, it seems silly, but it's true. :)
"Yeah yeah yeah I love you too now let me out to eat some grass with my girlfriend."
He lost his STINKING ROPE HALTER GUYS. You know how I said that every good horse has a bad quality?? Halter losing is Red's. Going to ride, hopefully, Saturday and I'll look for it. For now he's using his nylon halter that rubs him. Grrrrr....
Yes, he is sleeping. Yes, he is putting ALL of his weight on my shoulder. Yikes, a 15.3 Huge horse on my shoulder.

He's getting his black points again. :)
Question for you Bay owners, I'm new to this Bay thing and I think I fret over every inch of hairloss because of Red's issues, does your Bay lose hair around his muzzle and tips of the ears and have the black points? It doesn't look bad, just black.. I'm confuzzled.

Now..here is the fantastically fantastic and great pictures I took....
TONGUE!

TONGUE!
I love this horse. Did I say that already?? Yes?? Too bad. All of you guys understand.

Farrier comes out tomorrow, this is Spirit's first time getting trimmed by our farrier so hopefully all goes well. His feet look terrible! :( Red's look fine but he'll get trimmed like always. Possibly riding Saturday.

    1. Okay, cool! I figured as much, but every time he loses any hair I freak. I've never owned a Bay or anything close to a Bay, just a Paint before Red, then Cowboy, but he's in an awkward stage when it comes to color and hairloss. ;) He still has the majority of his winter coat, poor dude.
