All horses have it, and on a former horse I had it was a dry patch. If you don't treat it for flies with a product like Swat, it will bleed.SheMovedtoTexashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01062200290148658096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8639697700009231176.post-55023711478209868272013-08-02T09:35:35.708-07:002013-08-02T09:35:35.708-07:00Didn't even think of Swat, sad considering how...Didn't even think of Swat, sad considering how much I use it. :)) I told her that she should at least send some pics to her vet, just to be safe.Kalinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11011912207459834938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8639697700009231176.post-78253286719342093512013-08-02T08:20:45.047-07:002013-08-02T08:20:45.047-07:00Swat is always good on fly infested wounds. I told her she needs to contact a vet to be sure. I'm going to email her your comment. She *just* got this horse a month ago yesterday and since she's not exactly sure on what she's been around, I'd be more worried about that.Kalinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11011912207459834938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8639697700009231176.post-71493731485456136652013-08-02T05:38:05.639-07:002013-08-02T05:38:05.639-07:00Call the vet and have him/her look. It follows the center line of the belly and can also occur in the chest or hocks of the horse. It is VERY contagious and basically causes abcesses inside the skin. Transmitted and started by flies.

We had an outbreak about a year ago. It seems to be caused by hot, dry weather. I have a post on my blog from a year ago when we had the outbreak at our old barn.Crickethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00834640625999522559noreply@blogger.com
